Our goal is to provide you with personalized attention on your journey to a balanced body and mind, and to help you to cultivate strength, flexibility, and calm focus with awareness.
Benefits of Yoga and Massage Therapy
Our Philosophy of YogaThe Art & Science of Yoga uses tools and techniques that can either heal or harm. If there is absence of awareness, breath or compassion, then imbalances can take place. However in Yoga we like to say: “Use the practice to serve your body.” In other words, use the feedback of your body to gain a better understanding, and cultivate a calm and focused mind, free of judgement, pain or harm.
During yoga practice, you constantly gather new tools and new awareness to enhance healing of your whole being. We like to keep our space non-competitive, free of judgement, to be enjoyed with a smile within, a good laugh, and a large glass of water. WE WELCOME ALL AGES, GENDERS, and FITNESS LEVELS! What our logo representsThe lotus with the turquoise heart in the centre represents beauty and the potential for radiant health. Lotus roots in murky waters – transcending, blossoming up to the light. The petals represent the many aspects of our being, the many ways to achieve wholeness, health and full potential for self realization. From conscious awareness, balancing body, mind, spirit health, your inner beauty, radiant whole self can be illuminated. This is you, the centre, the turquoise heart. Conscious thought. Conscious speech. Conscious action.
TestimonialsRead what some of our yoga students have to say:
Lois W.: “Yoga has given me a sense of release with its tacit permission to fail. However, I know that I will never fail when I practise letting go, looking inward, reaching gently, and breathing fully. On my yogic pathway I have learned that every measure of progress is a win and gives credence to my teacher’s advice that less is more.” Pia S.: “Yoga helps to bring me back to my body and observe what’s going on inside. It helps to bring me in to the present and reign in the darting mind by focussing on my breath. Practicing Yoga helps to keep my body strong, flexible and balanced. Yoga challenges me to try poses that I otherwise might not have tried. I feel satisfied when I have pushed through these challenges. At the end of class I always feel like I have worked hard. I feel strong and my mind and body centered and relaxed.” Carolyn: “What a challenge to keep this brief! I feel yoga has benefited me in so many ways. Here is my distillation: During yoga I get to spend time with my very best self — body, mind, and heart connected, being fully present in the moment, challenging and accepting myself, celebrating the simplicity of the breath and the complexity of being alive. The more I experience this best self, the more I can bring it to every thing I touch and do…and that makes me happy. Thanks for the opportunity!” Jayne R.: ”Yoga has given me a much better and more flexible body,I have had tightness in my shoulders and hips for a very long time the difference for me is a much better posture and a stronger core. When I do a yoga class I forget everyday problems and focus on myself so physically and mentally it has been the best thing I have done in my life.I feel much stronger and not reluctant to try harder thanks to yoga.” Roberta W.: ”I so wish that I had taken up Yoga 30 years ago. I started Yoga last November. The more I go the more I like it. Yoga has kept my mind ,body and spirit (or soul) on a very steady road to staying balanced, strong, and at peace with most of life’s ups and downs. Yoga is a very easy way to stay self-disciplined. The effort with ease is so true, one moment you think you are doing the pose right and then one of my teachers will come up and tweak me with such a simple correction that changes everything about that pose. My body is much stronger than it was a year ago, my mind has learned patience and my spirit is free. My teachers really have amazing knowledge and techniques. Their passion for their work is heart warming. I leave my practice feeling ready to take on the world in a positive way from being around such wonderful people in my class. What is really nice, no one judges you, and you will always be encouraged no matter how much or little Yoga knowledge you have.” Lori C.: “Bringing yoga into my daily life has made my body much stronger and has made me look at things in a more spiritual way. I love it and my body craves it!!!!” Susan J.: “Thank you In Touch for a much needed week of yoga. Your blissful studio in Maderia Park is just what I needed to restore a sense of balance and peace. Brigit’s instruction and constant checking in with yogis makes all the difference. Her slight adjustments help to fully and comfortably benefit from the pose. In fact I enjoyed my daily week of yoga at In Touch I am already looking at booking into another week next year! Thank you again – I already miss your studio!” Ryan L.: “Yoga practice makes me excited to be a better person!” Judy R.: “Yoga helps me unwind and de-crink from a day sitting at a desk. My body craves yoga in order to realign itself and undo the damage of being hunched in front of a computer for hours. It also strengthens my body and helps me sleep better! And it really helps alleviate my sciatica. When I have a flare up (usually because I’ve missed a few classes), all it takes is a class or two for the pain to subside. When I practice regularly, I am usually sciatica-free!” |
